My laptop finally broke...
My trusty 4.5 year old Powerbook G4's screen went dark a few days ago. What an amazing computer it's been. It's seen many cities in traveling with onething and many hours in and on stage at IHOP. The hard drive crashed last year (which I replaced myself, because the 3-year warranty had run out), but this time around something's wrong with the screen. A replacement screen goes for about $600, and then labor on top of that would probably be another $300. Why pay almost $900 to fix an outdated, obsolete computer when I can just put that money towards a new one? Praise God for hearing my prayers, because the Lord has provided all of the money I need to get a new Mac.
Posts and updates to the blog might be a bit sparse until I can buy a new one and get everything set up on it...
UPDATE (5/27 7pm): I'm posting from the Powerbook! I decided to dismantle the computer and see if I could figure out what the problem was. I may have temporarily fixed it by messing with the LCD inverter (the screen is not flashing, at least not as much). I've been using Jordan Vanderplate's 12" Powerbook with my external hard drive for IHOP sets, and that seems to be working out okay for the time being. Hopefully I have at least a week or two left on this one before I buy a new one with the funds that the Lord so graciously and unexpectedly provided!!!
UPDATE (6/5 9:30am): The Powerbook's screen just died again. I was in the middle of writing a friend an email about prophetic music! :) It started flashing severely last night and I think the replacement inverter is totally blown now. There's probably a problem with the logic board that's causing the inverter to burn out. I think it's officially retired now! Only one more week before the new computer...

if you want to donate it...
Bring it by IT sometime, I might find a use for it.
Thanks dude. I am trying to
Thanks dude. I am trying to fix it myself - I think the LCD inverter just went bad, and it seems like an easy replacement with a couple of the right torx screwdrivers :)
