Blogging

I can't believe this went unowned for so long...

The domain name "intercessorymissionary.com" was up for grabs until just a few days ago, when yours truly picked it up for a mere $9 per year.

I was in total shock that nobody had purchased it up to this point. Maybe that's just the geek-meets-intercessor thing in me...

So for those of you who can't remember my name but do remember what I am and what I do, you can always go to:

to reach my site.

What you have been googling...

googlelogo.gifI have Google Analytics set up for my site, and as a result I’ve been able to check out some of the search terms that internet users have used to reach my site. Some of them are really funny, some of them are fairly normal and expected, and others are pretty interesting, so I figured I would devote a post to them so people could actually find what they were looking for.  read more »

Where I've been, and where I'm going...

Okay, so it's been WAY too long since I've written here. The main reason is because I am currently without a laptop computer, but thanks to God's gracious provision, a brand new one is arriving early next week. I have had so much I've wanted to write about, but the old fashioned way I've been journaling these past few weeks (pen and paper) just doesn't seem to work all that well for web readers :)

The main thing the Lord has been speaking to me about is how little I know Him as Father. I'm so convinced that the revelation of God as our Father is absolutely critical to understand if we want to mature in our love for Him. We can't expect to grow in our revelation of Jesus as the Bridegroom if we first don't understand that the Father is longing for a family. I suppose there are aspects of Christ as the bridegroom that one can see without the revelation of God as Father, but living off of that revelation alone leaves us with an incomplete and perhaps even a distorted picture of who our God really is. More on this next week when I get a laptop back and transcribe my thoughts from paper back to my e-journal!  read more »

My laptop finally broke...

My trusty 4.5 year old Powerbook G4's screen went dark a few days ago. What an amazing computer it's been. It's seen many cities in traveling with onething and many hours in and on stage at IHOP. The hard drive crashed last year (which I replaced myself, because the 3-year warranty had run out), but this time around something's wrong with the screen. A replacement screen goes for about $600, and then labor on top of that would probably be another $300. Why pay almost $900 to fix an outdated, obsolete computer when I can just put that money towards a new one? Praise God for hearing my prayers, because the Lord has provided all of the money I need to get a new Mac.

Posts and updates to the blog might be a bit sparse until I can buy a new one and get everything set up on it...

UPDATE (5/27 7pm): I'm posting from the Powerbook! I decided to dismantle the computer and see if I could figure out what the problem was. I may have temporarily fixed it by messing with the LCD inverter (the screen is not flashing, at least not as much). I've been using Jordan Vanderplate's 12" Powerbook with my external hard drive for IHOP sets, and that seems to be working out okay for the time being. Hopefully I have at least a week or two left on this one before I buy a new one with the funds that the Lord so graciously and unexpectedly provided!!!

UPDATE (6/5 9:30am): The Powerbook's screen just died again. I was in the middle of writing a friend an email about prophetic music! :) It started flashing severely last night and I think the replacement inverter is totally blown now. There's probably a problem with the logic board that's causing the inverter to burn out. I think it's officially retired now! Only one more week before the new computer...

Website updates...

I've finally been able to knock 2 things off my lengthy to-do list for my website! If you're reading this on a feedreader, be sure to go visit my site.

Here's a lowdown of the changes:

  • You may notice a "remember me" check box now in the login block. If you've got an account on my site, no more logging in every time you visit! The site will remember your login for 30 days before you have to reauthenticate now.
  • You'll also find a revamped audio downloads section. Check out the most popular (by number of downloads) audio and browse all downloads by artist. Hopefully things will be easier to navigate and find the teaching you're looking for. I've also added several new teachings from the KC onething conference last year, so be sure to check those out.

I've also just sent out my first web newsletter, now viewable from this link. Be sure to sign up for future newsletters by entering your email address on the sidebar box entitled "Email updates list" on the front page of my site.

I'm still alive...

Just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive. This week is GBF (the global bridegroom fast, our monthly 3-day fast here at IHOP). It's been a while since I've posted, but I've got a few new posts brewing based on some of my thoughts and journaling in the prayer room the past couple weeks.

Maybe I'll even take a stab at some eschatology geek type posts... :)

Hope you've been enjoying the prophetic musician interviews thus far! Several more are on the way.

Off to onething Orlando

southwest.jpg

In just a few short hours I'll be on one of the world-famous Southwest jets to the Orlando area for March's regional onething conference.

Shawn and some of the team arrived earlier today and claim the weather is absolutely beautiful.

I'm anticipating an awesome weekend. Justin Rizzo and Matt Gilman will be leading worship and Dwayne Roberts and Wes Martin will be speaking. It's been a while since I've traveled with onething, and I'm really looking forward to it!

I'll be playing keys with Justin on Saturday afternoon and Saturday night. I'm stoked that Jordan, our electric player on our team in IHOP, will be there too.

If you'll be at the conference, come and say hello!

Life has been busy...

I've been super busy with my kitchen renovation the past couple of days - painting, painting, and more painting. It's amazing what some fresh paint and new cabinet hardware (courtesy of IKEA) will do to a kitchen! I'll post some before and after pics on my photo gallery when I've completed everything.

Well, this coming Monday starts a 3-week-long change in my schedule. I'm helping David Sliker as a teaching assistant for his "Biblical Foundations of Eschatology" class at FSM. This semester we have almost two hundred students taking the class. David lectures Monday through Wednesday, but my favorite part of the class happens on Thursdays when we split up all of the students into small groups for discussion. It's amazing to see how even over three weeks the students are stirred to greater hunger to understand the leadership of Jesus at the end of the age.

I'm a big end-times guy, but not for the reasons you might expect. I am not interested in a bunch of facts, figures, and charts about when Jesus is coming back or how intense the sixth seal will be. But I am interested in understanding the Man behind the facts and the sixth seal. The study of the end-times can't be diminished to charts, timing, and who goes where, when. The book of Revelation is not the revelation of the antichrist or the revelation of the judgments of God. Revelation 1:1 tells us exactly what the whole book is about. "The Revelation of Jesus Christ". The study of the end-times is not just for the scholarly or learned. It's for every believer, because the knowledge of Jesus is for every believer. Studying it should give us zeal to pursue the first commandment - it should propel us into deeper love and devotion to Jesus.  read more »

Did you know...

It's been interesting to see how my website has been browsed by you, the end user. By far, the most popular section of my site is my photos. Did you know you can comment on them?

Instead of clicking on the photo thumbnail, click the title below the thumbnail. You will still see the photo (in addition to a cool description or something from me explaining the photo) but you'll also be given a form to comment.  read more »

New poll... What's your favorite old worship song and why?

I added a new poll today. What's your favorite old worship song and why?

I figured it might be fun to see how everyone responds. I've just been thinking recently about the lyrics to some of those old songs, and how rich in good theology so many of them were, especially the old hymns!

Make sure you vote and leave a comment telling us why it's your favorite. My response might surprise you, so read my comment on the poll :)  read more »
