Matt Gilman and Cory Asbury - Holy

Matt Gilman and Cory Asbury - Holy

Yes, Cory and Matt have finally come out with their CD, "Holy". So many of you have hit my blog or my site by googling for them, so I figured I would post the news about their CD :)

I was one of the leaders in Cory's internship, and Matt was in my internship here at IHOP-KC back in 2004. I love these guys. Their CD is a clear and pure reflection of how they carry their hearts before the Lord in the secret place.

It's available here from the IHOP MP3 store or on iTunes.

Hope you enjoy it!

PS: And so you know, not to be offensive or anything, but Cory is married, and Matt Gilman will not marry you. :)

Show me your glory!

IHOP-KC is currently on a corporate 40-day fast crying out for God’s glory in our midst. I’ve been asking myself the question “what does that practically look like for me?” and figured I’d share my heart on it.

I had to ask the basic question - what is the glory of God, and why do I want it? When we think of glory, do we think of a bright and shining sparkly cloud that comes into a room? Do we think His glory comes to give us a good meeting where a bunch of people fall on the floor? When we are asking for glory, what are we asking for?

In Exodus 33, Moses asked God to show him His glory. He was asking for more than a glimpse of God’s frame in sparkling light on a mountaintop experience. Moses was boldly saying “God, tell me who you are and what you’re like!”

We know the story – God came down in the cloud on the mountain, stood with Moses, and proclaimed His name – “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children and to the third and fourth generation.” (Exodus 34:6)

We have so many biblical examples of God manifesting Himself in the natural realm in a very tangible way. While I greatly desire a tangible expression of God in the natural realm, that alone is not a significant part of what I’m asking the Lord for on this fast. While I want to see angels, feel the weight of God’s glory in a meeting, or see supernatural signs of God’s manifest presence, I want something that lasts beyond a single meeting or even a few years of revival. The children of Israel saw countless supernatural signs and still turned from God. I want something more than a supernatural sign.  read more »

Seasons of change...

As many of you know, I've been playing keyboard at IHOP with Marcus Meier and Tim Reimherr (also known as Merchant Band outside of IHOP) since the fall of 2005. Before playing with Marcus and Tim, I played with Todd Ganovski, who has been serving the vision of a house of prayer in Nashville since 2005.

Todd Ganovski

Marcus and Tim's team has woken up way too early and traveled to so many regional onething conferences, played at countless Sunday services, gone deep in singing the Song of Solomon, and have been wrecked by the drama of the cross of Christ. After being on the team for over 2 and a half years, I've formed friendships with these guys that are just the beginning of the beginning of what the Lord has in store for us for eternity. Sadly, seasons of life shift and change - but one thing can be certain - the Lord's leadership of our lives is perfect.  read more »

A quick update

Phew! Now that Sliker's FSM class "Biblical Foundations of Eschatology" is over, I’ll be able to get back to a more regular posting schedule. It’s been a great 3 weeks, and this semester’s students are awesome. We also recruited about 40 new Omega course small group leaders to start end-times study groups all across the city and the missions base!

I’m getting ready to post part of of my prophetic music series, and also hoping to update my audio resources page with some new teachings as well.  read more »

Life has been busy...

I've been super busy with my kitchen renovation the past couple of days - painting, painting, and more painting. It's amazing what some fresh paint and new cabinet hardware (courtesy of IKEA) will do to a kitchen! I'll post some before and after pics on my photo gallery when I've completed everything.

Well, this coming Monday starts a 3-week-long change in my schedule. I'm helping David Sliker as a teaching assistant for his "Biblical Foundations of Eschatology" class at FSM. This semester we have almost two hundred students taking the class. David lectures Monday through Wednesday, but my favorite part of the class happens on Thursdays when we split up all of the students into small groups for discussion. It's amazing to see how even over three weeks the students are stirred to greater hunger to understand the leadership of Jesus at the end of the age.

I'm a big end-times guy, but not for the reasons you might expect. I am not interested in a bunch of facts, figures, and charts about when Jesus is coming back or how intense the sixth seal will be. But I am interested in understanding the Man behind the facts and the sixth seal. The study of the end-times can't be diminished to charts, timing, and who goes where, when. The book of Revelation is not the revelation of the antichrist or the revelation of the judgments of God. Revelation 1:1 tells us exactly what the whole book is about. "The Revelation of Jesus Christ". The study of the end-times is not just for the scholarly or learned. It's for every believer, because the knowledge of Jesus is for every believer. Studying it should give us zeal to pursue the first commandment - it should propel us into deeper love and devotion to Jesus.  read more »

Onething Minneapolis Day 3... and 4

The conference has been going well thus far! The Lord has really met the young adults that have come. On Thursday night, the main auditorium and the overflow were totally packed. We had about 1200 people here. I heard rumors we actually had to turn away a few walk-in registrations because we were over capacity and would be in violation of fire codes. It really stinks to have to do that... All the more reason to register (its free) ahead of time to guarantee a spot.

Anyways, Jen Roberts spoke the first night from Song of Solomon 4 and the extravagant love of God. Many young adults were deeply impacted and responded at the ministry time. What kind of God do we serve and love that would give Himself totally to us, even to the point of death on a cross? Amazing.

This conference was a little unusual schedule wise, because we normally don't hold a Thursday night session but typically start on Friday. It was nice for the team to be able to sleep in on Friday morning!  read more »

Onething Minneapolis, Day 2

We're here at Redeeming Love Church in Maplewood, MN and Jason Upton is sound checking right now. The conference begins tonight at 7pm, with Jason Upton leading worship and Jen Roberts speaking. There are over 2,000 attendees registered and the capacity of the main sanctuary is only 1,000 people, with about 400 for overflow. But if this conference is like any other regional onething this year, some folks will not come even though they registered (registration was free). Nevertheless, we'll have a packed house!

Here are some photos from the conference:

For more photos, make sure you check out my onething Minneapolis photo gallery, to be updated throughout the conference!  read more »

Onething Minneapolis, Day 1

After our customary Starbucks run, this time at KCI Terminal C, we're sitting at gate 62 ready to board our flight to Minneapolis. Matt Gilman said the flight is only about an hour.

Tim is reading the inside cover of Jason Upton's CD "Beautiful People", Matt, Audra, and Kristen are laughing about the pronunciation of "Minneapolis", Steven and Whitney are playing dominoes on the floor, Justin and Grace are talking about something a few rows away, and I can't hear them :)

Shawn is doing something on his computer and messing with his new iPhone... *drool*  read more »

Happy 8th birthday, IHOP!

happybirthdayihop.jpg
Today is an awesome day in IHOP-KC's history. On September 19, 1999, the prayer meeting that started is continuing this very moment. IHOP has, by the grace of God, gone for 8 years straight, 24/7, without stopping.  read more »

Holy - Matt Gilman and Cory Asbury

Matt Gilman and Cory Asbury - Holy CD

Filled with deep devotion and worship, Matt Gilman and Cory Asbury reflect the pure sounds of Heaven in their debut album, entitled Holy. From beginning to end, this CD exudes the brightness of Christ and the freedom He can bring to the human soul. Mellow rock music and memorable lyrics capture the liberty Cory and Matt release through song, coupled with powerful melodic arrangements.
