Hunger and Thirst - The Power That Focuses Your Life

One of the challenges in the Christian life is to rightly value the place of hunger equally to the place of being filled. This beatitude in Matthew 5:6 emphasizes the blessedness of the hungry not the blessedness of those who are filled.

We need a revolution in our thinking with regard to the pains we experience in hunger for God. “Make yourself a capacity and I will make myself a torrent” (Saint Angela). God wants to give Himself completely to us! He doesn’t want to give us a ‘trickle’ on the inside (John 4:14), but a torrent. However, we must make ourselves a capacity.

Stuart Greaves is the leader of the nightwatch at IHOP-KC. In this handout, Stuart takes Isaiah 62 and Isaiah 42 and discusses the emerging global prayer movement as the precursor to the second coming of Jesus. He discusses it as a prophetic indicator and as God's solution to ultimately release "speedy justice" (Luke 18) on the earth.

Prayer and worship is being raised up all across the earth today in small towns and big cities - it is unprecedented, because it's happening totally separate from any organization, franchise, or effort of man. The Lord is pouring out a grace to pray, fast, and worship unlike any time in history.

This 5-page handout details why the Lord is raising up prayer and worship across the earth. God's reason is not arbitrary or random, but it's unto the ultimate purpose of exalting His name and vindicating the person of Jesus, making His true identity known across the entire earth.

I made this handout for a visit back to New Hampshire in the fall of 2008, where I spoke several times on this subject. The notes are based off of some similar notes from Stephen Venable, a teacher at IHOP's bible school, the Forerunner School of Ministry.
