Revival is not the end

May 26, 2007

We are about to begin our 40-day fast focusing on revival in America. In the midst of the buzz of pre-fast excitement and activity, the Lord is teaching me about my over-romanticized version of revival and what it means to see the church passionate about Jesus once again.

Revival is more than some good church meetings where people get touched by God. It’s also a lot more than good meetings for a few years where people get healed, delivered, and set free from demons.

Revival is not about fixing all of my issues and the church’s problems so that we can continue living in a delusion of peace and comfort.

Revival is about a message.

God sends revival because He is jealous about people turning back to Him at the heart level and remaining steady in their obedience for years to come. God sends revival because He wants to prepare the church at the heart level for His return and His coming earthly kingdom.

I am realizing that my soul will not be satisfied until Jesus Himself is sitting on His throne in Jerusalem and His government and kingdom is being openly manifest on the earth.

When revival comes and goes, will you still be found wanting or will your soul be satisfied by the money, honor, and comfort that came with it?

We must pursue a heart that flows and is alive on the inside so that when revival wanes, our hearts stay steady, locked into our hope that is to come.
